I hope this doesn't sound ignorant. How were the uncles transported? In a carry-on or (please don't say) as cargo...

The uncles were well cared for in the cabin and cargo.
The uncle in the cabin flew in an airline approved travel bag and spent the majority of the trip with his head on his mom's leg and getting nice tummy rubs.
The uncle in cargo also flew in an airline approved carrier with food and water. The airline has a program for pets, compliance with a lot of rules, and handlers who just do the pet program.
Their mother wasn't happy about the cargo choice but she couldn't take both on board.
Next trip will be with two people so both can fly in the cabin or they will go by car.
The boys are very precious and no shortcuts are ever taken for their safety.

Thanks for responding! I would like to take my cat. but i hear so many negative comments about taking your pets with you when you travel.
